If you are looking for a nice beach experience getaway that almost makes you feel like the waters in tropical country, minus the extreme heat and humidity, then you should visit the "Sandbanks Provincial Park" located in Prince Edward County.
It is about 2 hours drive from Toronto and offers beautiful bright sandy beaches, wooded hiking trails, Camping, food restaurants, clean washroom and change room, plenty of parking space, clean water. The Sandbanks Provincial park has three beach in the park namely the lakeshore beach, the outlet beach and the sandy dunes beach. Those three beaches are connected to each other but offers a different landscape such as the outlet beach has shallow waters, sand dunes beach has a quite steep inclination, and the lakeshore beach has a bit of both features.
Sometimes during the summer months, parking and entry is free on weekdays from Monday to Thursday, but cost about $21 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You are also required to obtain parking permit online even if it is free parkings days. There are plenty of parking spots available in spite of a large number of crowds everyday. Washroom and changing room are spaced out between these Parking lots. You may have to walk quite a while to get to nearest washroom/change room.
Be advised that the parking lot is located at a lower road level than the beach level. This means that after you park your cars, you may need to walk up a short small hilly sand area, which then leads back down to the actual beach sand area. If you have to carry heavy stuff like tents, drinks cooler box, bags, portable tables and chairs, it could be quite a challenge to go up the short small hilly sandy area. Get some help from your companion to bring your stuff over the small hill to the actual beach area.
Although the beach is very crowded, there was a lot of space for everyone to move around freely without bumping into each other. After 5pm is the best time to come, since a lot of people will leave by that time. Be careful of the sharp delicate sea shells on the sandy shallow surface of the water area. They are sharp and can cause a painful experience on your feet. But if you venture out deeper into the water, you won't be standing on those broken sea shells. The Sands are really soft and beautiful to step on, and walking along the vast beach gives you the best feeling ever.
There are lots of green tall trees dotting the beach line from a distance and the beach is quite clean with no birds poop or animals feces. Occasionally you would see security guards coming through to check on the well being of the people which is a good thing. Besides the beauty of the nature, there are many beautiful girls to watch too in their sexy bikini playing in the hot sand.
